Acceso Investigativo

Investigative Access is a journalistic initiative that promotes and defends the right of access to public information. Its work is articulated on three fronts: investigative journalism, training for journalists and the use of judicial resources against those who deny or hinder the exercise of this right. Its values ​​are based on the fact that a well-informed population is essential for the exercise of democracy, freedom of expression and citizen participation. As well as that transparency and accountability are fundamental pillars to combat corruption and build a more just and equitable country. Within the framework of its work, Acceso Investigativo has managed to release large databases on mining, health, environment and gender, information that was previously restricted by different government institutions but that are now in the public domain. Since its creation, Acceso has produced a series of investigations that, due to their quality and impact, were recognized at the national level, such as the National Journalist Award #SinRiesgo 2022, National Award for Journalistic Excellence in Health 2023, National Award for Digital Journalism 2024. In addition, it achieved a dozen media allies for the co-production of investigations and dissemination of reports, not only in Bolivia but also internationally for the development of cross-border works. Investigative Access is financially supported by voluntary contributions from its members, competitive funds and donations. Its donors also recognize editorial independence. The media does not accept state advertising to remain free of political ties.
