Alyaoum24 is a Moroccan digital news organization publishing primarily in Arabic and headquartered in Rabat. Launched in September 2013 as the online offshoot of the daily Akhbar Al Yaoum, it is owned by Media 21 and was founded by journalist Taoufik Bouachrine. The outlet covers national politics, public policy, social issues, the economy, culture and sport, and runs an opinion section that commissions commentary from academics and public figures. Its newsroom also produces on‑the‑ground video journalism under the banner “Alyaoum24 TV,” and curates photo reportage. In addition to its Arabic service, Alyaoum24 operates a French‑language edition that adapts selected coverage for a broader readership.
Alyaoum24 reports regularly on judicial affairs, governance and accountability. In 2023, it partnered with the regional investigative network ARIJ on “The Shadow of Concrete Looms over Morocco’s Burning Forests,” an investigation that won a Silver Award and examined commercial interests around wildfire zones. In 2025, its director of publication Abdelhaq Belachkar faced a court case brought by the justice minister over an article scrutinizing a disputed expert valuation, underscoring the legal pressures facing journalists in Morocco. Through daily news, analysis and video, Alyaoum24 focuses on issues of public interest for audiences in Morocco and the wider Arabic‑speaking diaspora.
