Ayana Webzine is a pan‑African digital magazine based in Abidjan that centers African women and their stories. Launched in 2011 by Amie Ouattara Kouamé, the outlet publishes reporting, interviews and service journalism spanning health and wellbeing, entrepreneurship and personal finance, family life, culture and style. Its stated mission is to challenge entrenched biases and make visible the everyday issues facing women across the continent and in the diaspora. Beyond publishing, Ayana convenes Superwoman, an annual program created in 2013 that has evolved into a touring series of talks, workshops and mentoring. Recent editions have been held in Abidjan and Paris, with audiences often exceeding 500 participants per city and live streams extending reach. The organization builds on this programming with video under the Superwoman TV banner and occasional podcasts and masterclasses. Ayana’s work has been recognized by industry peers: in 2021 the Platform of Digital Press of Ivory Coast named it “Best Webzine of Ivory Coast” at the Salon & Awards of the Digital Press. Earlier recognition linked to the project includes a Francophonie 35>35 award in 2016 for blog and media innovation. Publishing primarily in French and speaking to francophone Africa and the diaspora, Ayana blends service pieces with profiles of entrepreneurs, creatives and public figures, aiming to inform, inspire and connect a growing community of readers and event participants.
