Barlamane is a Rabat‑based digital news organization founded in 2013 by Mohamed Khabbachi, former director general of Morocco’s state news agency MAP and a onetime Interior Ministry communications official. Publishing primarily in Arabic and supported by a French‑language edition, it covers national politics, governance, security, the economy, culture and sport, alongside regional issues affecting the Maghreb. The newsroom pairs daily reporting with on‑camera commentary and recurring video formats. Its weekly YouTube segment “Dirha Gha Zwina,” hosted by journalist Badria Atallah, built a large following and had surpassed four million views by August 2019. In May 2021 the outlet launched Radio Barlamane, a digital generalist station that streams news bulletins, talk shows and themed programs, including the sports show Riada Maa Aziz Daouda. The operation is held by Altitude Presse, a Rabat‑registered company in which Khabbachi is identified as the principal shareholder. Based in the Agdal district, Barlamane projects an assertive editorial line that scrutinizes public officials and policy choices; in September 2025 it reported an attempted entry by a prefectural commission into its offices after recent critical programming. With accessible language, a focus on video storytelling, and distribution across web, radio and social channels, Barlamane targets Moroccan audiences at home and in the diaspora, positioning itself as a prominent voice in the country’s online news ecosystem.
