The Bondy Blog was born after the urban revolts of November 2005, following the death of Zyed Benna and Bouna Traoré – two teenagers electrocuted when fleeing from the police.

Founded by the Swiss magazine L'Hebdo, the media organisation consists of about 20 reporters aiming to tell the daily life stories of minorities, stigmatised communities, and in general, the people whose voices are not heard in the mainstream media or the French public debate.

It publishes information on politics, economy, business, health, education, and culture.

Apart from its reporting, the organisation offers media education, masterclasses, and training for journalists and the general public. In 2009, the organisation created Prépa Égalité des Chances (in English: Equal Opportunities Preparation Class), a training for scholarship students from working-class backgrounds.

Furthermore, the Bondy Blog won the Prix Challenge for the best political blog in 2009 by the magazine Stratégie, and in 2017 they were selected for Le Trophée Des Associationsby the EDF Foundation.
