Cafelab is the first news platform specialized in coffee in Peru. It has been online since 2017 with the objective of telling the stories of life and entrepreneurship around coffee produced under the criteria of fair trade, gender equality and environmental sustainability. More than 200 thousand families of small producers depend on this activity that has led Peru to be the second largest organic coffee producing country in the world. It seeks to give a human face to the coffee industry, in which approximately 2 million people participate nationwide, recognizing the actors in the coffee production chain, from coffee growers, baristas, tasters, roasters, founders of coffee brands and coffee shops. The contents, addressed without technicalities because they are aimed at the final consumer, They include recommendations for having a good coffee, life stories of notable producers, reviews of coffees that are tasted, coffee shop routes, and sector news related to entrepreneurship, the environment, and gender equality. The team firmly believes that this knowledge adds value to coffee, influencing consumers' commitment to this beverage, for which they are willing to pay fairer prices. The vision is to consolidate itself as the main digital medium dedicated to Peruvian coffee and thus achieve a positive impact on all the actors that are part of the Peruvian coffee production chain. Train journalists specialized in coffee in the producing regions of Peru so that the generation of content in this sector is decentralized.
