Causa Natura Media is a non-profit media, founded in 2020, that has been innovative in covering social and environmental issues through data and investigative journalism in the region. Causa Natura Media makes analysis and investigations, as well as data journalism, opinions, interviews available to its audience, thereby contributing to the monitoring of matters of public interest. Currently, Causa Natura Media's long-term investigations are taken up by more than a dozen Mexican media and it is expected that in the coming years in other countries in the region. Causa Natura Media has been one of the media that has made marine issues the most visible in Mexico in recent years, with a series of reports that have used novel techniques such as satellite data and map visualization. CNM has provided support and training to the Sea Journalism Network, an initiative of Causa Natura Media, which the Earth Journalism Network supported for its birth in 2022 and which today brings together more than 40 journalists interested in marine issues. The medium is one of the brands of Causa Natura together with Causa Natura Center, a relevant think tank in environmental policies, both under the general direction of Eduardo Rolón. Causa Natura Media survives thanks to financing from international donors, while it works on the implementation of a subscription model with its readers.
