It was born as a blog in February 2005 with the idea of sharing opinions of film fans, without aspiring to position itself in film criticism. Two years later, the space evolved into a website with more content: interviews, special coverage, trips to festivals, several organized events and almost 40 people collaborating in various ways with the publications. Cinencuentro has received initial support from the audiovisual production company TV Cultura for its activities, always being maintained in a collaborative and free manner.

Since its creation, the film-loving community around Cinencuentro was gradually consolidating and growing, maintaining regularity in its publication for 20 years.
