Citecus is a website dedicated to the communication of topics related to science, technology and sustainability. Founded in 2019, its objective is to position itself as a reference space for the coverage of scientific topics in Mar del Plata and the region, with an approach that seeks to integrate scientific knowledge in the local sociocultural context. The project is managed by a team of professional communicators from Mar del Plata who work to bring the advances and scientific research developed in the city and its surroundings closer to the community. Citecus offers a variety of content including news, notes, interviews and podcast episodes, as well as a newsletter and specific posts for social networks, with a prominent focus on Instagram. One of the team's main achievements was the production of "Modo Ciencia", a podcast spanning two seasons and a total of 34 episodes. In each chapter, specialists address topics of general interest from a scientific perspective, connecting science with everyday activities. The episodes are available on platforms such as Spotify and YouTube.Citecus is an independent and self-managed media that receives support from its readers. In addition, he has been recognized for key initiatives in the journalistic field. In 2021, it was selected as one of the 50 Argentine media participating in Amuna Digital, an education and acceleration program for digital media promoted by SembraMedia and Meta Journalism Project. Through its work, Citecus seeks not only to inform, but also to contribute to the formation of a more conscious and participatory citizenry around scientific and technological issues that impact society.
