José Leonardo León Avendaño, creator and Editor-in-Chief of Comunicación Continua, remembers that in 2010 he observed several episodes of censorship in different media outlets in Venezuela and decided to open a blog to evade this situation. From Mérida, an important city in the Venezuelan Andes, he dedicated himself to publishing "photo news" while at the same time attending to his program La Ciudad en la Radio and his correspondent in El Nacional, one of the main printed newspapers in the country. "I always try to maintain the balance, however, instead of information, the government makes propaganda and the censorship they apply to the opposition sector is evident," explains León. The variety of news is made possible by 4 interns and 4 journalists who work in other media and believe in this project, through 2 or 3 daily updates in which they publish local news, expert opinion columns and official news that have national interest. León combines his multiple work activities with radio journalism and web writing courses, skills that young talent interested in pursuing a career in these spaces. The marketing of its digital proposal has its sights set on national clients and does not rule out international support. APPOINTMENT WITH JUSTICE The journalist and photojournalist became a national reference through his Twitter @leoperiodista, from the protests that took place in 2014. Caracas, San Cristóbal, Valencia and Mérida were the most newsworthy cities at that time, a product of the repression applied by security forces. Precisely, the publication of these events led him to two lawsuits that he won against the regional government.
