The Decat o Revista's first daily newsletter, the Pandemic Journal, tried to make sense of the world at the beginning of the pandemic, focusing on the numbers and reporting stories of people coping and communities helping each other.

Concentrat, the morning newsletter of the online magazine, was born from the Pandemic Journal, as it became clear there was a need to expand the stories and the subjects covered in the newsletter, and the name no longer fit.

It's a Monday-to-Friday newsletter offering news, information curation, and a dose of surprise.

After three years, the newsletter's team has changed. As the online magazine does not cover daily news, the newsroom tried different structures to avoid the burnout of the journalists. The newsletter's team comprises three full-time people and collaborators bringing voices from outside the newsroom.

The newsletter has over 15,000 subscribers and an average open rate of 50%, with word of mouth being the primary source of new subscriptions. Its audience's average age ranges from 20 to 40 years old. Attracting a young audience to the newsletter is tough as email is not the main channel to reach younger readers; however, some segments, for example, students, are apparently interested. The team has also worked with high schoolers interested in exploring journalism.

The newsletter includes a reported story or a short personal essay, either related to the news or from a topic that is currently discussed, from energy bills explainers to pop-culture or sports stories; a news curation section, both national and international coverage; and a section with recommendations: things to read, see, and listen to throughout the day, from long-form stories to documentaries and TikToks.
