Correio do Estado Group was founded by José Barbosa Rodrigues on February 7, 1954. It has established itself as the main printed newspaper in Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as an SBT affiliate and AM and FM radio stations.

Grupo Correio do Estado is a family business and is in its third generation of management. After the death of José Barbosa Rodrigues, Antônio João, one of the founder's sons, took over the management of the group.

Today Correio do Estado is run by Ester Figueiredo and Marcos Rodrigues. The Correio do Estado Group is also made up of the companies AgiumSoft, the real estate portal Vem pra Casa and the video production company Macaw.
