CTXT is a Spanish digital media that began its journey at the beginning of 2015 and is committed to “providing context” to the most important news of today, always through the weekly publication of fifty of its own topics. According to its own definition, CTXT was “founded by 14 experienced journalists, from large European newspapers such as El País, El Mundo and La Repubblica, who seek to exercise their trade in complete freedom, without servitude to political, editorial or business".The motto of this digital publication is "context and action" because it aims to "help people form their own criteria and act in a responsible and coherent manner". The objectives of CTXT are "to provide context to the most relevant news, anticipate the big issues that will mark the information agenda, energize culture and creation, promote the debate of ideas, and tell and analyze the facts with sobriety, honesty, irony (when possible) and a critical sense." One of the differentiating characteristics of CTXT is your “slow pace.” Its promoters do not want to get carried away “by the minute-to-minute rush that prevails on the Internet.” Those responsible for this publication believe that "now more than ever, there is a need for a medium that offers calm and analytical journalism and only publishes first-hand information, prepared on the ground, well written and carefully edited and verified." According to the recent 2022 accounts published by the medium itself (the last published) through its director, Miguel Mora, the total income of Revista Contexto SL grew by 18% in 2022, to exceed 735,000 euros, while the expenses rose by 7%, to 692,859 euros, which leaves a provisional profit before taxes of 42,843.76 euros. In this way, in its eight years of life, CTXT shows an accounting balance, with 36,752 euros of accumulated losses and zero euros of debt, despite the miniscule advertising investment - CTXT does not accept sponsored content or programmatic advertising (in bulk), so that, in 2022, the Advertising accounted for just 10% of the total volume of income. In 2022, income from subscriptions increased by 10%, to 413,331 euros net, the historical maximum in the eight years of life of the magazine. At the beginning of 2025 they will celebrate their first ten years of life. The number of subscribers, at the end of 2024, is 6,840.
