Disversa's mission is to facilitate access to information for people with disabilities and their families, organizations, companies and public services through inclusive and accessible communication, with a focus on rights and promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion. In addition, it is committed to the principles of inclusion, accessibility, independent living, self-determination and non-discrimination. It declares itself a feminist and anti-racist medium. It bases its work on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Article 21 on Freedom of expression and opinion and access to information) and on the Sustainable Development Goals (number 10 on Reducing inequalities). Disversa was created in 2012, under the name Integrated Chile, by Andrea Medina, motivated by her experience as a woman and journalist with disabilities, as well as by her desire to generate a medium that addresses these issues from a perspective that gives dignity to people with disabilities. During these years it has had the support of Google News Initiative -through the News Equity Fund-, SembraMedia and the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas. In addition, it is part of the Network for Diversity in Latin American Journalism (Redipe). Its website was designed under the W3C web accessibility principles, to facilitate access to information for people with disabilities. As well as, its content published on social networks and other media has information accessibility measures.
