Edicion Cientonce

Cientonce Edition is a digital native media with a focus on LGBTIQ+ rights. The medium provides journalism that, with depth and rigor, analyzes the realities and problems of people of generic gender diversities, generally absent in traditional media agendas. Its team is made up of journalists and communicators of diversities and allies. Its website presents in-depth reports, investigations, interviews and current news. On its social networks, in addition to promoting the content of its website, educational content is also disseminated. The name Cientonce Edition has a symbolic meaning and seeks to commemorate the first milestone in the fight for LGBTIQ+ rights in Ecuador: the decriminalization of homosexuality. In 1997, thanks to a fight that began in the streets, the Constitutional Court decriminalized homosexuality in case 111-97-TC. The number of that case, the first on LGBTIQ+ rights in the country, gives its name to the medium. That number was converted into a disruptive word and complemented with a term specific to journalism. Cientonce Edition monitors through journalism the fulfillment of the rights of LGBTIQ+ people and challenges power for the rights that it does not yet guarantee. Furthermore, it gives spaces to those who have always had a voice, but have been made invisible by hegemonic narratives.
