Auditor.info is the only portal that clearly publishes what the reports of the organizations in charge of auditing the State say. Since its inception in 2008, it focuses its work on issues of public control, transparency, access to information and citizen participation. It focuses on these issues at the national level, covers federal coverage and highlights regional and international initiatives.
It arises from Fundación Éforo, a civil society organization that advocates for citizen control of public management. The portal was recognized by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires as being of cultural interest.
The project arose from the need to make accessible the reports of control organizations, usually incomprehensible to citizens and journalists themselves. Transparency and access to information are two fundamental axes for government management to improve the quality of life of all citizens, and El Auditor.info builds that bridge between society and organizations. Recently, it has diversified its formats, including short videos to break down the content of audit reports.
Neutrality has been a key practice, allowing it to gain trust and recognition by impartially explaining the organizations' observations, avoiding partisan political approaches. The emphasis on the structure and systematicity of failures in public management, beyond names or governments, is fundamental in its reports.
In 2022, El Auditor.info was selected by the Gabo Foundation to be analyzed in "El Hormiguero", an investigation into digital native media in Latin America.
El Auditor.info strives to generate closeness and interest by addressing everyday topics and explaining its connection with public management. Through transparent practices, such as linking complete documents, citing relevant sources, and publishing balance sheets, it manages to build simple understanding and citizen engagement, building clear, well-sourced journalism.
