El-Teatro was born to promote and disseminate the reality of the performing arts in Spanish-speaking countries: there were only small cultural spaces in printed newspapers. In addition to expanding coverage impeccably in this digital space, 2020 took the project out of the local area to project it as a reference in Latin America and Spain. The web structure and navigability were improved, in addition the user's voice was heard and new sections were incorporated: “We modified the organization and added sections that users requested, such as "social", "feminist theater", "festivals and calls", so that users can get information much faster, with content from interest. We are a medium specialized in cultural issues with a social and critical approach,” explains Patrizia Aymerich, director of the portal. Since April 2020, they have been producing the podcast "The English say Calm!", which is based on interviews with directors, playwrights and figures from the world of performing arts from all over Latin America and Spain. Another novelty of El-Teatro is the Newsletter that is sent every 15 days and the cultural training project www.lascriaturas.com. "The purpose is to offer a new space for our community, to train, inform and educate, while we receive new economic resources to maintain the portal.” Among the financing methods for this cultural website, there are workshops and shows carried out through Criaturas Producciones. "We created this production company in 2012 to finance the project and as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic we launched the Calm! project with it, a podcast dedicated to disseminating artistic work in a pandemic." The work team resides in Venezuela and Spain, there are six people in total, three full-time and three part-time. In the future they hope to have memberships and sponsors that will increase income. Aymerich explained in a first interview with SembraMedia that the project had been operating as a volunteer project and they needed to strengthen the strategies to monetize it. To do this, they signed up for the MOOC Entrepreneurial Journalism: How to monetize, promote and manage digital media, from the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas and our organization SembraMedia, launched in October 2016.
