Imitom.ge is an online media outlet targeting Georgia's young people and publishing international stories. The project was founded by the local NGO DemLab, and is in the process of spinning off from its parent organisation.
The mission of Imitom.ge is to be a space for young people to express themselves and share their inner world. As a media outlet, Imitom.ge aims to raise awareness about youth issues, enable young people to share experiences, encourage debates about recent events, and provide entertainment.
The project was inspired by the youth educational projects of DemLab, through which the founders discovered that no single media outlet reflected young people's perceptions and opinions.
The website started as a volunteer-based platform where young people were invited to produce information for their peers. The platform uses colloquial language to catch the youth's attention and respond to their needs; it does not shy away from so-called "trashy" content either.
While most of the information caters to young people's interests, topics such as active citizenship and media literacy are also widely discussed on the platform. Imitom.ge publishes articles, blog posts, quizzes, posters, videos, vlogs, and animations. As stated on its website, the outlet follows the trends and even creates some of them.
