Istinomjer is an online platform that evaluates the level of truthfulness and responsibility of government officials in fulfilling their statements through their work, and the fulfilment of pre-election promises of Bosnia and Herzegovina parties. Its goal is to promote political responsibility as a fundamental principle of democracy.

It was founded in 2010 by the Bosnian citizen association Zašto ne (in English: Why not), which supports the creation of a safe, healthy, active, efficient, and responsible society, both in terms of government representatives and civil society, through establishing political accountability mechanisms, strengthening civic activism, and using of new media formats and technologies. The project is funded through grants from the non-profit foundation National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

In addition to verifying statements and promises, Istinomjer publishes analysis of current topics and stories. The team runs the section Nevjerovatno ali Istinomjer (in English: Unbelievable but True-o-meter), which publishes satirical socio-political information on current events in the country.

Istinomjer is part of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), a unit of the non-profit journalism education centre Poynter Institute, dedicated to bringing together fact-checkers worldwide. Istinomjer is also part of European factchecking network EFCSN.
