Jevas Combativas is a feminist media in Spanish based in the United States fighting patriarchy and misinformation. A key part of their mission is to promote greater representation of Spanish-speaking Latinx feminists. As they explain on their site: “Jevas Combativas was born from the need to fill a gap that existed in the traditional media in the United States regarding Spanish-language feminist issues and their intersectionalities and the impact that such news coverage has on our society and Latinx communities.” Their mission is, “to combat misinformation, stigma, prejudice and discrimination by creating factual content and the experiences of our people.”Jevas Combativas began with a weekly radio show on I-Heart Radio, a podcast and digital platform that connects Latinx people around the world. In 2021, Google News Initiative and LION Publishers chose the editorial proposal of Jevas Combativas as part of a collective of entrepreneurs who are revolutionizing the way news is told. Its executive editor, Iza Montalvo, is a Puerto Rican journalist and entrepreneur who resides in Orlando, Florida. He has experience in creating multicultural content, effective coordination of Latino participation, media relations, strategic communications, integrated information campaigns and development of media projects aimed at the Spanish-speaking community in the United States. He works with allied media such as Factchequeado, a fact-checking initiative to counteract disinformation in Spanish in the United States.
