KosovaLive is one of the first online media outlets in Kosovo. Founded in 2000, it uses its experience as a tool to encourage dialogue, education, and equality. Besides providing information, KosovaLive's mission is to motivate critical thinking skills and media education among youth, civil servants, senior officials, and journalists.KosovaLive implements many projects on fake news, disinformation, voting, public engagement, women empowerment, circular economy, design thinking, and social enterprise.According to the executive director Kelmend Hapçiu, KosovaLive "is committed to helping improve the lives of many people across Kosovo through programmes that can drive social and economic equality, especially for what concerns gender".Since the early days of its existence at the end of the wars in former Yugoslavia, and for more than two decades, KosovaLive has played an essential role in the ice-breaking process and inter-ethnic talks within Kosovo and other Western Balkans countries. It has done this through its projects, ranging from forums involving politicians, journalists, community leaders and personalities to conferences and journalist exchanges.KosovaLive is supported by international organisations and foreign governments. Some donors include the Balkan Trust for Democracy, the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society, USAID, the US Embassy, the European Commission, UNICEF, and the Swiss and German Foreign Ministries, among others.
