Las Raras Podcast

Las Raras is a documentary podcast. They tell stories of people who break the rules and fight for social change, which they call Freedom Stories. They amplify voices not found in traditional media. They firmly believe that the personal is political. They are in tune with social movements. They are feminists and cover topics such as the environment, art, education, gender, love, family, motherhood, migration, human rights and more. They do interviews and documentary recording in the field with special emphasis on recording the soundscapes of the places where our stories occur. The careful sound design is one of our main features. We use only original music. The result is elaborate episodes of between 20 and 30 minutes. Their audience is Spanish speakers mainly in Latin America, the United States and Spain, a beautiful community that makes them proud. The content director and narrator is Catalina May, a Chilean journalist who worked for more than ten years in the written press and academia before creating Las Raras. The sound director is Martín Cruz, a Chilean sound engineer who worked in audiovisual production, mainly focused on scientific dissemination, before creating Las Rare. They have won various awards, the latest of which, during 2022, from the College of Journalists, the Roche Award and an Ondas Award, in addition to a nomination for the Gabo Award that same year.
