Carmarthenshire News Online

https://www.carmarthenshirenewsonline.com/

Carmarthenshire News Online is a hyperlocal news media outlet created in 2017, covering Carmarthenshire County in southwest Wales, publishing breaking news, events, and daily updates from the courts, councils and rural community councils. The information is available in English and Cymraeg (Welsh language).

It was founded by the journalist Alan Evans, the editor, working with a team composed of two part-time reporters, Elkanah Evans and David Hurford, and a volunteer associated editor, Ron Cant.

The organisation has an innovative live reporting programme, the News Van, where residents discuss what is happening in their areas. The travelling multimedia studio visits villages and towns across Carmarthenshire gathering views of community members on contemporary issues, and looking for solutions based on the community's needs.

Carmarthenshire News Online offers free journalism training so local community members can learn skills to become future contributors to the project.

They are also a BBC Local Democracy Reporting Service partner, filling a gap in reporting local democracy issues across the UK.

The media outlet is financed through a mix of revenues: a membership model, donations, advertisement on its website, and grants.
