Making Money Simple is a platform set up by Kiwi journalist and educator Frances Cook in 2024. She started her career as a journalist specialising in crime reporting, before moving into politics and then finance and business. She describes herself as a reformed money mess, who went from being stressed about money, to now being a qualified financial advisor, specialising in investments. Cook has also written two books on personal finance, published in 2019 and 2022. Both Building her own independent platform was driven by a desire to help New Zealanders remove the stress associated with money and achieve financial freedom. As a financial commentator, she contributes to many of the country's biggest media outlets across online, print and on the radio. She produces explainers and content about financial and economical news on her social media channels in forms that are easy to understand. Throughout her career she has been recognised with awards for her work, including for her previous podcast, Cooking the books. Cook is also an international keynote and TedX speaker.
