Mapa De Barmaids & Afines

https://mapadebarmaids.com.ar/
The Barmaids Map is the first visibility and action platform for gastronomy in the region. Based in Buenos Aires, this organization maps and documents the work of professionals in various areas, such as cocktails and related areas (spirits, wine, coffee, tea, mate, beer), cooking and entrepreneurship, with the aim of disseminating projects and promoting collaboration networks, both in person and virtual in the region. Since its creation seven years ago, it has worked around three main axes: gender, health and training. It has promoted the incorporation of these issues into the industry agenda, consolidating itself as a reference in the region on gender and well-being issues within the hospitality and gastronomy sector. The platform has a presence in several countries including Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador, Peru and Spain. In addition to recording and making visible the experiences of women and LGBTQI+ dissidents working in the field, the Map produces unique indicators in the region, carrying out surveys on gender violence, equity, health and informality in gastronomy from its own Observatory. In 2023, it published the first report with gender data in the sector in LATAM, which is currently in the process of expansion. In addition to the online maps (for now in Argentina and Mexico, soon in Chile and Uruguay), the platform is constituted as an information and critical reflection hub about the problems and challenges that women and dissidents (LGBTQI+) face daily in the sector, offering an interdisciplinary look and with a gender perspective through the various contents and products (platform, blog news, monthly newsletter, podcast, cycles of activities and campaigns) and social networks of the project. The on-going content production is carried out from its Agency, which also provides consulting on gender and health and training within the gastro sector in several countries, articulating with both the public and private spheres.
