Mataperrea is an independent journalism portal that specializes in listening to citizens who do not have the privilege of being heard in an unequal, racist and classist country like Peru, through various formats such as text, photographs, and others. It is a medium that accompanies and converses with workers, unions, farmers, communities and indigenous peoples, invisible ethnic groups, groups and civil organizations. All the stories that are constructed are done under a decolonial, intercultural, anti-capitalist, anti-racist, anti-class, working-class and gender approach. Mataperrea identifies with these struggles and demands because those of us who make it up are part of that sector that is still invisible by power groups. The journalistic portal was born by three friends and colleagues who observed a void within traditional and independent journalism. Mataperrea believes more in unity and camaraderie than in media competition. Mataperrea is part of a new generation of young media that does not come from the classic schools of journalism, does not pretend to be validated by traditional journalism, nor by its awards, nor its teachers. The stories speak for the founders. Mataperrea means someone who is always on the street, walking until their sneakers burst, looking at something that not everyone sees.
