Media Platform on Environment and Climate Change (MPEC) is a Ghanaian nonprofit media initiative founded in 2015 to close communication gaps around science, environment, climate and natural-resource governance. It supports environmental journalists and informs the public through original news and features on issues such as illegal mining, forestry, fisheries, climate adaptation and agriculture. The organization convenes the Biennial Media Forum on Natural Resources, Environment, Climate Change and Science (BiM‑NECS), launched in Accra in June 2023 and held again in Kumasi in 2025, as a space for journalists, researchers and regulators to examine coverage and share reporting approaches. The forum is organized with the Afro‑Sino Centre of International Relations and The Steminist Foundation Ghana, with support in 2025 from Proforest Africa and Tropenbos Ghana. Beyond forums, MPEC recognizes impactful reporting through the Inclusive & Anti‑conflict Journalism Awards, run with Minority Rights Group Africa under the EU‑funded EMMAP project. The platform is led by executive director Mary Ama Kudom‑Agyemang, a veteran Ghanaian environmental journalist, and works to connect research with newsroom practice so media can guide policy and bolster community awareness. Its audience includes Ghanaian journalists, media houses and citizens seeking clear, science‑grounded coverage of environmental change and its social effects nationwide.
