NacióDigital is a Catalan generalist digital newspaper that has 18 local and thematic editions. It was founded in 1996. The local editions correspond to various areas of Catalonia (Spain). The thematic editions are dedicated to Culture, Motors, Wines, Castles or Mountains, among other topics. The publishing company of NacióDigital, SCG Aquitània SL, was founded in 1995 with the aim of working in the field of digital media. It is one of the pioneer initiatives on the internet in Catalonia and Spain.NaciónDigital is one of the deans of digital journalism in our country. Its embryo, Osona.com, was born more than 25 years ago, and the group's national coverage began in 2005 and, especially in 2016, when the core of the current political editorial team, led by Ferran Casas, was incorporated. Throughout their history, Macià's newspapers have not lost their journalistic ambition, influence and commitment to the country. And the good work was rewarded as NacióDigital, including its 19 local editions, became the leading digital newspaper in Catalan. In May 2022, the publishing group of Diari de Sabadell and Diari de Terrassa formalized the acquisition of NacióDigital and its nineteen editions. The operation was closed after the signing between SCG Aquitània SL and Grup Edicions de Premsa Local, represented by Miquel Macià and Marc Basté respectively. The new publishing company of NacióDigital is since then Edicions Digitals de Premsa Local, SL, a subsidiary of Grupo Edicions de Premsa Local. It assumes all the newspaper's mastheads and domains, including the thematic newspaper Criar.cat, as well as all of its workers, who maintain seniority and conditions, in addition to intangible assets and technology. The group, based in Sabadell, currently has more than 60 workers, divided into different local editorial offices spread throughout Catalonia, apart from those who work in the associated media. With the integration of NacióDigital, the group led by Basté becomes the leader in Catalonia in local coverage with 23 local editions, including the two Vallesan newspapers, the magazine Èxit Vallès and the free El Terrassenc, and the local editions of NacióDigital. The group's leadership is especially evident in Vallès Occidental, where it has two newspapers in the capitals and the respective web editions, and the editions of NacióDigital in Sant Cugat, Rubí, Terrassa and Sabadell. Advertising is NacióDigital's main source of income. The medium has the National Communication Award in the digital category. These are the most important institutional awards in the field of communication in Catalonia. NacióDigital is one of the European media that at the time obtained funding from Google through the Digital News Initiative (DNI), the aid program developed by the search engine to support the digitalization of the media in Europe. The NacióDigital project that Google will finance is a data visualization tool that can be incorporated into the content manager of any media, with a responsive design, easy to use and open source.
