Agencia Presentes is a regional media that covers issues of sexual and cultural diversity from a gender and human rights perspective. It was born in 2016 in Argentina as a Latin American news agency on LGBTI issues, being a pioneer in this specialized and regional approach. Currently it expanded its headquarters and its agenda. Since 2020, it also has a headquarters in Mexico and covers issues of indigenous communities and climate justice, always from a gender and human rights perspective. In addition, since 2022 it has published factchecking news to combat gender misinformation. The agency seeks to ensure that the protagonists of the stories are at the forefront of the news content, are the main sources and, if possible, the producers of the content. It has correspondents in: Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador. The agency combines current news and breaking news coverage, investigations and profiles, transmedia specials and cultural agenda, as well as an opinion section where activists and journalists write, and another for interviews. In addition to journalistic coverage, the agency created Presentes Escuela, a training space where more than 1,000 journalists from all over Latin America have been trained on gender and diversity issues, as well as in communication with activists. In 2022 and 2023, it accompanied the creation of two indigenous community media: Agencia Telúrica (Argentina) and Qataquí Noticias (Qom Santa Rosa Community, Paraguay). The agency is led by journalists Ana Fornaro and María Eugenia Ludueña, co-founders, who are dedicated full time to the project. Distinctions: - Declared of interest in the defense of human rights by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires. (2019)- Impulse México Award (2022)- Jáuregui Award in Argentina (awarded by the Igualdad Foundation, 2022). Its financing today comes from international cooperation funds and training.
