Pundit is a home for smart, expert analysis of politics, economics and current affairs. Started by Tim Watkin and Eleanor Black in 2009, with support from Ian Fraser, it has always been a blog site that always demanded more than a rant and less the a thesis. A wide range of views have always been welcome from across the political landscape, with an emphasis on civil and respectful - but robust - debate.

All the contributors have been volunteers, notably among them political analysts and former politicians such as Andrew Geddis, David Beatson, Jane Young, Jon Johansson, Keith Ovenden, Rob Salmond, David Young, Josie Pagani, Wyatt Creech, and Deborah Coddington; scientists such as Jacqueline Rowarth and Ralph Sims; historians such as Anne Salmond and Jock Philips; and economists such as Brian Easton and Ganesh Nana. Dozens more have written for Pundit, building a place online for intelligent, kind conversations about the place of New Zealand in the world and the issues that matter to New Zealanders.
