Sétanal Média is an independent, association-run digital outlet focused on Senegal and Francophone West Africa. Founded in 2019 as a non-profit association in Lagny‑sur‑Marne, it publishes original reporting on politics, society, culture, health and the environment, and features interviews with artists, researchers and public officials. The newsroom also conducts fact‑checking and produces regular analyses of online rumors and narratives shaping public debate in the region.
During Senegal’s 2024 presidential race, Sétanal Média joined #SaytuSEN2024, a multi‑newsroom alliance coordinated with Africa Check, E‑Jicom and other partners to verify claims and track election misinformation. Its anti‑disinformation work continued in 2024–2025 through joint monitoring notes with Tama Média and La Voix de Mopti, prepared with support from the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. The organization also runs media‑literacy sessions in Dakar’s Keur Massar to help communities recognize misleading content.
Beyond text, Sétanal develops audio and video formats. It co‑publishes Le Petit Podcast and produces street‑level vox pops and interviews that document civic life and debate. Topics range from fashion and music heritage to public health, migration and media regulation. Across formats, Sétanal emphasizes accessible explanations, transparent sourcing and civic education aimed at young, digitally connected audiences. By combining reporting, cultural storytelling and verification, it contributes a distinctive, community‑minded voice to Senegal’s media landscape and to wider francophone conversations on information integrity.
