Siena was launched in 2019 and is the only media outlet focusing on investigative journalism in Lithuania. It aims to expose corruption, nepotism, abuse, and human rights violations affecting individuals and states.
The site serves the national audience, but the NGO behind it, Tiriamosios žurnalistikos centras' (in English: Center for Investigative Journalism), cooperates on projects with local and international media outlets. Siena is also a Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) member and has contributed to international investigative projects such as the Pandora Papers and FinCEN Files.
Its investigations have been nominated and awarded the prestigious IJ4EU Impact Award. Siena's activities are sustained by grants and member donations.
