Social Voices is a Nigerian civic media nonprofit based in Abuja that produces solutions‑focused journalism and builds newsroom capacity across Africa. Founded in 2020, the outlet emerged in 2021 through the Solutions Journalism Africa Initiative and has since reported on how communities confront public problems in gender equity, health, climate, education, and democratic participation. Its newsroom publishes deeply reported features that examine what is working, the evidence behind results, and the limits of each approach. Recent stories on the Solutions Story Tracker spotlight a technology‑enabled abortion care network serving women across Nigeria; the roll‑out of self‑injectable contraceptives under Nigeria’s Self‑Care Policy; family‑planning programs in Zimbabwe; and a Kaduna cooperative that turned low‑paid farm laborers into landowners.
Beyond publishing, Social Voices runs trainings and fellowships to expand the practice. In June 2025 it trained more than 130 journalists across Africa on gender‑equity reporting in partnership with the Solutions Journalism Network. In September 2025 it launched an 11‑person Gender Equity Reporting Fellowship spanning Nigeria, Cameroon, and Zimbabwe, offering mentorship and editorial support for evidence‑led coverage. The organization says it has equipped over 300 journalists and sustains a contributor network of more than 100 freelancers. Led by founder and managing editor Seun Durojaiye, Social Voices works to renew civic participation and public trust by centering practical responses and citizen engagement in the news.
