Studentské Listy

https://slisty.cz

Launched in 2019 by a group of students, the Studentské listy' team aimed to create a nationwide platform, without oligarchies, from students to students.

"No oligarch stands behind us, and we live off the support of our readers, which makes us unique in the Czech media environment. We are the largest independent student media in the Czech Republic," the website states.

The media outlet covers topics and stories of interest for a young audience and aims to make heard young people's interest in public affairs. Therefore, the team writes about politics and education; it seeks to raise awareness of students' voices about the state of the Czech education system through opinion pieces.

Furthermore, Studentské listy informs about events and opportunities for young people and creates a space for discussion and exchange of ideas between young politicians and activists.

Studentské listy's team believes that "a democratic country needs independent student media that bring topics close to young people and their point of view into the public space". The slogan is: "We are disturbing the media boomercracy."

The newsroom comprises students from different regions of the Czech Republic, and it meets only online via Google Meet. The members of the team work voluntarily; the company does not have a legal status yet.
