Sul21 is an independent news website, launched in 2010, and since 2020 run collectively by the professionals involved in the day-to-day running of the newsroom. Its main objective is to produce in-depth reports on relevant topics that don't always receive space in the hegemonic media.
Based in Porto Alegre, it seeks to provide independent, quality communication, not tied to the interests of large economic groups, and focused on local communities, the defense of their rights, solidarity economy ventures with environmental responsibility, society's struggles in defense of diversity, rights and freedoms, and environmental protection.
According to the team, the journalism focuses on topics such as anti-racism, gender issues, cultural and religious diversity, struggles for land and housing, but also on attacks on the environment, health and public education, and on groups that have historically been invisible in our society.
