It was born in November 1998 as a pamphlet, to mock former dictator Augusto Pinochet, who was then detained in the London clinic The London Clinic – which bears the name: The Clinic on its façade. In this way, it consolidated itself as a printed weekly newspaper that was characterized by mixing satire and political humor with social criticism. Following a change in ownership in 2020, and the end of its print edition in 2021, The Clinic shifted its focus to a mainstream digital medium. They currently define themselves as "a digital newspaper that continues to seek the same thing as in its beginnings: to do good journalism and try to connect with what people are interested in knowing." Their content focuses on politics, business, the city, trends and free time through chronicles, stories, interviews, reports and opinion.
