Launched in 2013 by Udruga TRIS (in English: TRIS association), the independent, non-profit outlet Tris publishes stories on relevant issues in Šibenik, where the organisation is based. It also covers topics of interest from the Dalmatia region and nationwide. Its journalists work under the motto "tolerance, respect, information, and freedom".

The organisation emphasises its coverage of ecology and human rights. With the financial support of the Croatian Agency for Electronic Media, the outlet has implemented several environmental projects and has published investigative stories about environmental protection and problems at the local, regional, and national levels, while surfacing irregularities in the system.

Another topic that the organisation emphasises is reporting on ethnic minorities. Some of its stories were picked up and further investigated by mainstream media, and by publications specialising in minority issues.

In 2022, the team collaborated with the association Krka from Knin to launch the project Megafon. Throughout the year, they organised public discussions on activism, tolerance, and the environment, as well as media literacy workshops. A video series was produced about the needs and possibilities of young people to contribute. As part of this project, a printed edition of Tris is published quarterly (four editions in total).

However, due to the unfavourable financing conditions of non-profit media for obtaining public funds, editor-in-chief Davorka Blažević said: "If something does not change soon in the financing system, we may have to think about shutting down the website."
